Historical circular path in Albersweiler
Information board "A border in the middle of the village"
Albersweiler was a divided village: The southern and northern parts with St. Johann belonged to different lordships. In the 14th century, the northern part is said to have come to the Lords of Scharfeneck through the Staufer, while the southern part belonged to the city of Landau and the Electorate of the Palatinate. The boundary markers with stone placements from 1604 and 1783 are known, in total 27 boundary stones marked the course of the border. With the French Revolution, the boundary delineation disappeared, and Albersweiler was merged with St. Johann into a municipality. Some of the boundary stones have been preserved.
