The ecological status of 95% of the lakes and 94% of the rivers in Lapland is good or excellent. Deep in the Eastern Lapland wilderness, you can drink clean water straight from a stream or a spring. This is a perfect place to refill your waterbottle on one of the many hiking routes that pass by here.
You can watch the water come up from the ground, sit a while and watch the fun patterns emerge in the water!

Public transport
The nearest airports are at Kuusamo (1.5 h) and Rovaniemi (2 h). There are shuttle buses connecting Kuusamo Airport and Salla, which serves almost every flight.
The nearest railway station is in Kemijärvi (1 h). There is a bus to Salla, which is timed to connect with the night train, Mon-Sat.
