Die Fulda ist mit einer Länge von 218 km der längste Fluss in Hessen. Außerdem bildet sie als westlicher Quellfluss zusammen mit der längeren, aber weniger Wasser führenden Werra einen von zwei Quellflüssen der Weser.
Die Fulda entspringt an der Wasserkuppe und endet zwischen Kaufunger Wald und Reinhardswald in Hann. In Münden (Niedersachsen) entsteht aus dem Zusammenfluss von Fulda und Werra die Weser, die ihrerseits in die Nordsee mündet.
