This water spring used to supply all the vilagers who worked on the fields of this area in the summer.
The Filiatro spring was valuable in the old days, when, during the summer, the villagers of Abeliona were almost permanently in the mountains, reaping, threshing and grazing their flocks. People and animals used to drink from the waters of the spring. Also today, the herds grazing in the area still drink from Filiatro's water. From the saddle of the mountain, a few tens of meters above the fountain, one can see the southwestern part of the temple of Apollo Epicurius. The area is studded with fragments of pots and bricks, evidence of an ancient site there. The characteristic name here is "Katsikopodo" and may refer to the ancient Arcadian goat-man, God Pan.
