Projekt multifunkčného ihriska Športpark Pltníky Martin vytvára športovo rekreačnú zónu mesta Martin v časti Martin – Pltníky v blízkosti rieky Turiec, medzi obchodným centrom Tulip a mestskou časťou Priekopa. Využitie nábrežia rieky Turiec ako prirodzeného priestoru pre šport a rekreáciu je zakomponovaný v základných strategických rozvojových dokumentoch mesta Martin.
Lokalizácia nového multifunkčného areálu Športpark Pltníky Martin je mimoriadne atraktívna i pre jednoduchú dostupnosť z viacerých mestských častí. Športpark Pltníky Martin doplní chýbajúcu športovo-rekreačnú infraštruktúru mesta Martin. Účelom projektu je vybudovanie miesta pre aktívny oddych a relaxáciu v exteriéri pre širokú verejnosť.
V súčasnosti je v rámci areálu vybudovaný futbalový tréningový štadión, pumptrack dráha, skatepark, cyklisticko-korčuliarska dráha, voľnočasové zóny, príjazdová komunikácia a parkovacie plochy.
