Am 12.06.2000 wurde durch Jörg Kachelmann in Oderwitz das Wetterstudio Ost - "Zittauer Gebirge" der Schweizer Firma METEOMEDIA eröffnet. Mit diesem Studio hat er die Oberlausitz auf alle Wetterkarten und in viele Fernsehkanäle gebracht. Das im gleichen Haus untergebrachte Wetterkabinett entstand als Nachfolgeeinrichtung des Wetterstudios und steht der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung. Hier erhält man einen Einblick in die Welt der Wetterbeobachtungen und -vorhersagen. Hier können interessierte Besucher Ihre eigene "Wetterprognose" erstellen. Mittels Wettervorträgen wird für unterschiedliche Altersgruppen Wissenswertes zum Thema "Wetter und Klima" vermittelt.
