Östlich in Stanz und oberhalb des Landecker Stadtteils Perjen thront die Burgruine Schrofenstein auf einem Felsvorsprung. Von der Burg aus wurden einst die Verkehrswege nach Südtirol, über den Fernpass und den Arlberg überwacht. Ab dem 13.Jahrhundert war die Burg im Besitz des Geschlechts der Schrofensteiner. Jetzt ist sie in Privatbesitz.
