Die Ruine Schenkenberg gehört zu den imposantesten Ruinen des Kantons Aargau. Die Burg ist von den Habsburgern gegründet worden, wahrscheinlich zu Beginn des 13. Jahrhunderts.
Die Ruine eignet sich besonders als Ziel einer Wanderung durch das Schenkenberger Tal.

Geschichtliches
Als im kalten Winter von 1706 das für die Zisterne bestimmte Regenwasser in den Kupferrohren gefror und sich dann, als es diese gesprengt hatte, bei Tauwetter über den Estrich in die Wohnräume ergoss, verzichteten die Berner auf den weiteren kostspieligen Unterhalt und liessen die grosse Anlage verlottern. Um die dem völligen Zerfall preisgegebene Ruine zu retten, erwarb sie 1918 der Aargauische Heimatschutz und führte in den mehreren Jahren umfassende Sicherungsarbeiten durch.
