Glendalough is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park and is one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. The ruins of the important monastery complex are definitely worth a visit.
The complex dates back to the 6th century and is one of the most famous monastic settlements in Ireland. Its 33 m high round tower is particularly striking. It is also the breathtaking landscape of Gleann Dá Loch ("valley of the two lochs") that immediately casts its spell. The Glendalough Visitor Center offers visitors extensive information on the history of the monastery. In addition to the historical sights, there are several well-signposted hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty.
