Die Birg“ (Quelle von Sagen um den Raubritter „Birg-Peter“), eine keltische, spätrömische und mittelalterliche Befestigung, wurde in den 1980er Jahren umfangreichen archäologischen Untersuchungen unterzogen. In Limbach und der näheren Umgebung finden sich viele Spuren aus römischer Zeit.
