Thai temple with Buddha statue
The Thai temple was built on the occasion of the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) 1983. It thus belongs to the historical part of the Westpark. The Buddha sculpture, on the other hand, which is made of maple and 3.50 m high, was a gift from Nopradol Khamlae to the City of Munich in June 1994. The Thai Sala stands on a platform in a water basin and is decorated with lacquer paintings and valuable glazed bricks. Furthermore, the Buddha sculpture represents the first Buddhist sanctuary in Germany.
