Die Kirche wurde 1697 fertiggestellt. Der schlichte Bau ist in strengen Linien auf dem Grundriss eines Kreuzes errichtet. Mit der Einrichtung eines neuen Friedhofes mit Kapelle im Norden der Stadt diente ab 1902 die Kirche als Gottesdienstkirche. Nach 1970 wurde sie umgebaut und wird heute als Landeskirchliches Archiv genutzt. Sie wurde 1692 - 1697 in der Form eines griechischen Kreuzes errichtet. Die Kreuzkirche hat jeden ersten Donnerstag im Monat geöffnet.
