Der Clarabadteich ist mit einer Fläche von etwa 18.000 qm das größte Stillgewässer im Lappwald.

Mit seiner exponierten Lage unmittelbar an den Wanderwegen im Brunnental kommt ihm eine zentrale Bedeutung für die Naherholung zu. Daneben ist er aber auch für die Wasserwirtschaft und den Naturschutz bedeutsam.
