Informationsort für Wanderungen und Bergtouren in der Umgebung, Übersicht der Sehenswürdigkeiten, Taxi-Warteplatz und Spielplatz.

Das Tierfed ist Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen und Bergtouren. Sechs SAC-Hütten können vom Tierfed aus erreicht werden. Einige Sehenswürdigkeiten liegen im südlichsten Glarnerland: der Schreyenbachfall, die Pantenbrugg, die Linthschlucht und auch das Pumpspeicherwerk Limmern zieht jährlich mehrere tausend Besucher ins «sagenhaft abgelegene» Tierfed an.

Die Infrastruktur des Info-Pavillons dient einerseits als Informations-Punkt und stellt mit dem Kinderspielplatz und den Picknick-Tischen einen idealen Aufenthaltsort dar.
