Die weitläufige Parkanlage mit Purpureichen und Rotbuchen wurde den Krefelder Bürgerinnen und Bürgern vom Seidenfabrikanten Wilhelm Deuß (1827–1911) zur Erholung geschenkt.
Heute gibt es einen Weiher mit Bootsverleih, einen Spielplatz, Wanderwege sowie zahlreiche Liegewiesen und schattige Plätze, die zum Verweilen einladen. Das Stadtwaldhaus mit seinem 1.700 Besucher fassenden Biergarten nebst Konzertmuschel bietet Spaziergängern und Radfahrern eine attraktive Anlaufstelle. Drei Tennisanlagen, ein moderner Bewegungsparcours und die angegliederte Pferderennbahn mit Golfanlage im Innenoval runden das Freizeitangebot sportlich ab. An den großzügigen Spender des ganzjährig zugänglichen Parks erinnert bis heute der Deuß-Tempel am Rande des Stadtwaldweihers.

Der Eintritt in den Stadtwald ist kostenfrei.
Public transport
An den Haltestellen "Apellweg" und "Hohe Linden" halten die Buslinien 052, 058 und 060. Die 058 hält zudem auch an der Haltestelle "Krefeld Stadtwald".
Directions
Am besten erreicht man den Stadtwald über die A57 (Ausfahrt Krefeld Gartenstadt) und den Charlottenring/ Europaring/ Nassauerring.
Parking
Rund um den Stadtwald wurden einige Parkbuchten geschaffen.
