Der Duthie Park in Aberdeen hat einiges zu bieten – exotische Pflanzen, eine der größten Kakteensammlungen Großbritanniens und vieles mehr. Ein grünes Highlight der Stadt!

1880 spendete Elizabeth Duthie der Stadt Aberdeen einen Park, drei Jahre später wurde der Park eröffnet und noch heute trägt er ihren Namen. Der Duthie Park gilt seit jeher als einer der bestgestaltetsten Parks in Schottland. Neben kleinen architektonischen Schmankerln wie dem viktorianisch anmutenden Pavillon gibt es hübsche kleine Gartenanlagen, ein Wäldchen und einige Gewässer. Das Herz des Parks sind die David-Welch-Wintergärten, in denen man exotische Pflanzen und eine Kakteensammlung bewundern kann.

Für alle, die gerne etwas sportlicher unterwegs sein möchten, bietet sich im Sommer eine Partie Kricket an, für Kinder gibt es einen großen Spielplatz und wenn der kleine Hunger kommt, lockt das Park Café.

8 Uhr morgens bis eine Stunde vor Sonnenuntergang

David Welch Winter Garden:
