Der Dorfplatz ist in seiner heutigen Form der engagierten Leistung der Ortsbevölkerung und der Straucher Vereine zu verdanken. Im April 2003 wurde der neue Dorfplatz mit der schönen Grünanlage und den Spielgeräten für Kinder eingeweiht. Der Um- und Anbau des Pfarrheims wurde im Oktober 2011 fertig gestellt. Mit Unterstützung der Gemeinde Simmerath entstand so ein großartiger Ort für Feste und geselliges Beisammensein mitten im Ortszentrum von Strauch.
