Delitzsch City Park

There are very different types of trees in the city park, the most unusual are probably the ginkgo, gleditsia, tulip tree, a white mulberry tree, a very old plane tree and many other species grow here. Some of the trees are up to 140 years old. The western part with the large lawn parterre and the "Genesung" fountain was extended in the 1930s when Delitzsch wanted to obtain spa status.

Mouse tower

The small building in the town park with a height of four meters was erected in 1903 and is a round building with battlements reminiscent of a medieval fortified tower. This handsome structure was used by the Delitzsch wastewater association until 2014. Today it no longer has any use, but it has a fairytale-like quality.

Holy Fountain

The Heiligbrunnen fountain in the town park was originally an alleged healing spring that never ran dry. This place was already a Slavic/Sorbian farming, cult and sacrificial site at the time of settlement in the 10th century. In the 19th century, the spring was tapped into a pipe and the well was built. After it had almost dried up, the fountain has now been extensively renovated.

Sculpture group "Recovery"

The installation of the sculpture group "Convalescence" by Max Alfred Brumme from 1936 is located in the middle of a water basin in front of a backdrop of weeping willows. This work of art was donated by the then owner of the Delitzsch chocolate factory, Albert Böhme, who would have liked to establish Delitzsch as a health resort. Unfortunately, he did not succeed because a health resort needs natural healing springs, which Delitzsch did not have.
