The Trefflingfall is located in the Vordere Tormäuer section of the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park and is the highest waterfall in the state. Here, the Trefflingbach plunges up to 120 meters into the Erlauf River. It maintains a steady water level year-round, but is especially worth seeing in the spring! It’s a popular excursion destination for the whole family.

TIP: On weekends during the summer months of July and August, the hikes around the Trefflingfall are easily accessible by public transportation thanks to the Nature Park Hiking Bus.
Combined with the Mariazellerbahn, this allows for varied tours without needing a car—ideal for multi-day hikes where the starting and ending points are not the same. This allows you to customize your hike to the Trefflingfall, use the Mariazellerbahn for the trip there, and start or end your tour either at Sulzbichl or in Trübenbach.
