Am Schmugglerpfad tummelt sich Jung und Alt gemeinsam in und mit der Natur. Alles ist mit relativ einfachen Mitteln gebaut und deshalb geht es auch schon mal über „Stock und Stein“.

Der Schmugglerpfad führt durch Wiesen und Felder, entlang eines Grabens und durch Wald. Er ist insgesamt 2,6 Kilometer lang und kann auf eigene Faust, oder mit einer gebuchten Führung erforscht werden. Die Wege sind kindgerecht gekennzeichnet und viele Tafeln sind aufgestellt worden, um den Menschen Tiere und Pflanzen die dort wachsen, zu erklären. „Die Tafeln sind natürlich zweisprachig“ sagt Frank Heinemans. „Für uns ist es wichtig, dass die Kinder wissen und erzählen, was in der Vergangenheit passiert ist, um die Zukunft zu gestalten, so Heinemans. Der spielerisch angelegte Schmuggelpfad verläuft auf deutschem und niederländischem Gebiet, völlig grenzfrei. Die Kinder können dabei viel lernen, gemeinsam spielen und auch Respekt vor der Natur erlangen.
