Besonders zur Blütezeit des hier verbreitet vorkommenden Gelben Frauenschuhs zieht es von Mai bis Juni zahlreiche Naturfreunde ins Rehletal bei Immendingen - Hattingen. Im Jahr 1973 wurde das 67 Hektar große Gebiet unter Naturschutz gestellt und 2011 auf 173 Hektar erweitert. Es trägt seitdem den Namen „Schopfeln-Rehletal“.
Ein Naturlehrpfad führt durch den orchideenreichen Buchen- und Geißklee-Kiefernwald mit seiner vielfältigen Flora. Zwischen Mai und September blühen hier außer dem Frauenschuh u.a. Weißes, Schwertblättriges und Rotes Waldvögelein, Grünliche und Weiße Waldhyazinthe, Eiförmiges Zweiblatt, Nestwurz, Fliegen-Ragwurz, Mücken-Händelwurz, Braunrote und Breitblättrige Stendelwurz. Geschützt sind darüber hinaus Reliktpflanzen aus der letzten Eiszeit, der Würmeiszeit vor ca. 20 000 Jahren.
