In Kooperation mit dem Neuen Botanischen Garten der Universität Göttingen entsteht hier auf Initiative des Landschaftspflegeverbandes Landkreis Göttingen e.V. ein 2 ha großer Obst-Sortengarten mit derzeit ca. 120 verschiedenen Obstsorten.

Der Landschaftspflegeverband ist bereits seit Jahren dabei, die heute noch in den älteren Streuobstbeständen vorhandenen Sorten aufzufinden, bestimmen zu lassen und in Sortengärten langfristig zu sichern. Es geht dabei um: - Sortenvielfalt als Kulturgut und Schaufenster bäuerlichen Wirtschaftens früherer Generationen, - Erhaltung der biologischen Sortenvielfalt am Ort ihres Vorkommens, - Sicherung von Genressourcen u.a. für Nutzungszwecke, die z.T. heute nicht mehr bekannt sind und wo das Wissen erst wieder erlangt werden muss, - Schulische Bildung und Erlebnispädagogik.
