The Musical Forest consists of a number of different outdoor instruments that can not only be played but are pieces of art as well. The instruments along the nature trail are designed as a whole. At the beginning of the route there are flamboyantly striking instruments, then you will hear joyfully ringing and buzzing sounds. The precious sounds of a totem and a rain pipe round off the collection. Behind the rain pipe instrument the beautiful landscape of Lake Hietajärvi opens up. The landscape of Kaunisniemi is a rolling artic pine forest with numerous trails criss-crossing the musical instruments.
The Musical Forest nature trail is also accessible with wheelchair.

Soiva Metsä, The Musical Forest, is located in Kaunisniemi, 7 kilometers from the Suomussalmi Center, 110 km north of Kajaani and 145 km south of Kuusamo.
Driving instructions: Drive South on highway 5 (E63) from the Suomussalmi center. From Highway 5 turn right and continue Road Lomakyläntie about 3 kilometers until you reach a wooden sign with “Soiva Metsä”. From there leads a path of approximately 1 km to the instruments.
