Das Naturschutzgebiet Graues Ried zwischen Moos und Gaienhofen ist ein eiszeitliches Toteisloch.

In der Flachmoorsenke am Nordrand des Schiener Berges wachsen bis zu zwölf Orchideenarten (u. a. Knabenkraut, Mehlprimel). Bedeutend im Mooser Ried ist der Kopfbinsen-Bestand.
