Der Sage nach lag hier einst eine wunderschöne und ertragreiche Wiese, welche von Bauern zum Unterhalt des Gemeindepfarrers bewirtschaftet wurde. Einer dieser Bauern behauptete jedoch schließlich, dass das Land ihm gehöre und behielt den Pachtzins ein. Da keine urkundlichen Zeugnisse vorgelegt werden konnten, ging die Wiese in seinen Besitz über. Am selben Abend zogen sich dunkle Wolken zusammen und ein furchtbares Gewitter rollte heran, das erst im Morgengrauen wieder nachließ. Als der treulose Bauer zu seiner Wiese kam, traute er seinen Augen nicht. Vor ihm gähnte ein tiefer Abgrund, aus dem nur mehr einige Spitzen und Schuttkegel aufragten.
