Hingucker: Die Gebäudes Museums sind auf den Kopf gestellten Wikingerschiffen nachempfunden.
Im Museum werden die Geschichte der Wikingersiedlung Haithabu, der Alltag vom Handwerk bis zur Kunst, der Schauplatz der Macht, Handel und Schiffsbau präsentiert. Zu diesem Wikingermuseum gehört auch ein Freilichtmuseum, ca. 1 km Fußweg südlicher, auf dem historischen Gelände von Haithabu. Der wikingerzeitliche Handelsplatz Haithabu und das Grenzbauwerk Danewerk sind seit 2008 Unesco-Welterbe.
