The Westerwald Landscape Museum showcases life and work from past centuries in several historic buildings. It offers exciting insights into the crafts, traditions, and everyday culture of the region.

At the Landscape Museum Westerwald, visitors immerse themselves in the history of rural life. Authentically furnished houses, workshops, and exhibitions provide a vivid picture of the everyday life of earlier generations. The expansive grounds invite exploration of the buildings at one's own pace. Many details – from tools to furniture to clothing – tell stories from a time when craftsmanship and nature were closely intertwined. Public transport

Arrive with the Hessian State Railway to Hachenburg station, then walk about 10 minutes to the landscape museum.

From Altenkirchen, take the 289 bus in the direction of Helmeroth to the school/sports center. Change there to bus line 408 in the direction of Hachenburg. From the stop at the market it is about a 5-minute walk to the Landscape Museum.

From Bad Marienberg, take the 960 bus in the direction of Hachenburg. From the stop at the market it is about a 5-minute walk to the Landscape Museum.

Westerwald Landscape Museum

Directions

From Bad Marienberg (east): We leave Bad Marienberg via the L294. At the end of the street we turn left onto the B414. We follow this road for about nine kilometers until we turn left onto the L281 in the direction of Hachenburg. We follow this road until we arrive in Hachenburg.

From Altenkirchen (West): We take the B414 to the roundabout in front of Hachenburg. We leave this at the first exit in the direction of Hachenburg onto the B413. After the level crossing, we turn left onto the L288 to get to Hachenburg. We follow the L288 until we arrive in Hachenburg.

From Betzdorf (north): We follow the L288 for about 21 kilometers. Then we turn right into the K21 in the direction of Marienstatt. To stay on the K21, we turn left immediately. We follow this road until we come to the crossroads, where we turn left in the direction of Hachenburg (B414). At the roundabout we take the first exit in the direction of Hachenburg (B413). After the level crossing we turn left onto the L288 and follow this road to Hachenburg.

From Steinebach an der Wied (south): We drive via the L292 until we arrive in Hachenburg.
