Tomaž Godec Museum

In Bohinjska Bistrica stands the homestead of Tomaž Godec (1905–1942), a local tanner, an extraordinary sportsman and organiser of skiing, mountaineering and tourism activities in Bohinj. His homestead that once housed a tannery was in 1979 transformed into a museum that bears the name of the previous owner. The Tomaž Godec Museum houses a permanent exhibition on the history and cultural heritage of Bohinj, from the first prehistoric settlement up until World War II. An especially interesting part of the exhibition is the demonstration of the tanning process in the times of Tomaž Godec and a significant part of the museum exhibition is dedicated to the period of both World Wars.
