The Sansevero Chapel is a museum located in the historic center of Naples and is famous for the splendid statue of the "Veiled Christ" by Giuseppe Sanmartino.
Founded in 1593 by Alessandro di Sangro, the first prince of Sansevero, as a burial place for his family, the chapel now houses some of the most beautiful sculptures of the Neapolitan Baroque, including Giuseppe Sanmartino's famous "Veiled Christ," a marble statue that depicts in detail the body of Jesus covered by a transparent veil. It is one of the most beautiful and striking works in the world, which is why it attracts thousands of visitors every year. The chapel is also known for the anatomical machines, two human skeletons with detailed reconstructions of the circulatory system.
