The quarry museum in Rammelsbach conveys lasting impressions of the extraction and processing of hard stone in earlier times.
The local community of Rammelsbach has erected a monument to the extraction of hard rock. It illustrates the 120-year history of the "Dimpel", as the early industrial operation is still called today. Diagrams and documents are intended to show present and future generations the hard work that was carried out here by men and women at the "Rammelsbacher Kopf".
In the building, large-format pictures illustrate the hard work on the rock through to the finished product. Old documents, equipment and tools used in the past as well as a replica of a workshop forge, some workers handling the hard rock and a rock collection make a visit to the museum worthwhile. A stone dresser, wagons on narrow-gauge tracks, "billets" and cobblestones can be seen outside.
