Deià kann auf eine lange Tradition illustrer Gäste zurückblicken: Der britische Schriftsteller Robert Graves (1895 – 1985) lebte in den 1930er Jahren hier und brachte das Dorf erstmals bei Künstlern ins Gespräch. Das Graves-Museum mit seinem Original-Interieur und der üppige Garten vermitteln einen Eindruck vom Alltag des Lyrikers. Im Laufe der Zeit folgten Graves weitere Künstler nach Deià. Eric Clapton und Jimi Hendrix haben sich hier inspirieren lassen und Deià der Öffentlichkeit bekannt gemacht. In den 1980er Jahren spielte hier die Fernsehserie „Hotel Paradies“, die weitere wohlhabende Besucher in das Bergdorf lockte. So wandelte sich schließlich das Bild vom Künstlerdorf zum exklusiven Treffpunkt der Prominenz.
