The museum houses the collection of works no longer used in liturgies and previously exhibited, before the 1976 earthquake, in the Antonian Art Gallery
The museum also houses works from the former Convent of St. Anne of Koper, once part of the Venetian Province of the Order of Friars Minor: they date from the 15th to the 19th centuries and are on display, more than half a century after their recovery, thanks to the good offices and restoration work of the Superintendencies of Mantua and Trieste.
The museum itinerary has a foretaste in the 17th-century fresco by an anonymous local painter (St. Francis Receives the Stigmata and Friar Leo) detached from the counterfacade of the convent after the 1976 collapses.
By Benedetto Carpaccio (Adoration of the Name of Jesus) and Francesco di Girolamo da Santacroce (Deposition of Christ) are the canvases placed in the sanctuary.
The museum - designed by architect Gianpaolo Della Marina - is dedicated to the Gemona native Renato Raffaelli, a benefactor and supporter of the Franciscan convent's cultural initiatives.
