Traditional site of Saxon - Thuringian uranium ore mining
The Uranium Mining Museum provides insights into the history of uranium ore mining in several exhibition complexes. It provides an impressive picture of the working and living conditions of the Wismut miners from the difficult early years to the cessation of mining in the early 1990s. The exemplary refurbishment and the new start of the Schlema spa are particularly well represented. More than 20 paintings from the Wismut GmbH art collection and numerous exhibits owned by former miners give the museum a particularly authentic character. Special offers are available for guided tours, project days and hikes.
