The monastery complex of Hornbach today houses, in addition to a hotel, a modern museum called "Historama," which presents the history of St. Pirminius and invites visitors to embark on a journey through over 1000 years of history. Here, one can dive into history, among other things, at multimedia stations. A roughly 25-minute film is also shown, with computer animations that make the development of the monastery over the centuries virtually experienceable.
The renovation and repurposing of the former Hornbach Benedictine Abbey has succeeded in preserving a culturally and historically significant monument and giving it a new use. A new building has been developed between the main house and the former left aisle of the monastery basilica, housing a monastery museum designed with pedagogical and state-of-the-art multimedia aspects – the "Historama Kloster Hornbach" – a historical site that invites visitors on a journey through over 1000 years of history. The mystique of this holy place can still be felt today.
