Folk art, local mountains and mechanized mining depictions
The exhibition impressively displays the folk art of mining in the western Erzgebirge - the carving and lace-making exhibits, the mechanized mine representations, local mountains and pyramids are well worth seeing. Children can go in search of the mountain spirit and discover the mysterious world of the miner.
Built as a baroque residential and commercial building in 1724/1725, the museum houses unique folk art treasures within its walls. The extensive collection of pyramids, Christmas cribs, mechanical mineshafts, local and Christmas mountains is particularly attractive. Moving, scenic miniatures and humpback mines take visitors into the darkness of the miners' working world. The light has become something precious and is reflected in the traditional Erzgebirge light bearers - candle arch, spider, miner, angel. The historical collection of lace enriches the exhibition.
