A Vermogno, il museo della Bessa racconta l’epoca romana dell’oro alluvionale, tra cumuli di ciottoli, tecniche di ricerca e visite nella riserva archeologica.
Nel borgo di Vermogno, sulla grande morena glaciale della Serra d’Ivrea, il museo della Riserva Naturale Speciale della Bessa documenta uno dei più straordinari paesaggi artificiali dell’antichità. Qui, tra il II e il I secolo a.C., i Romani attivarono imponenti aurifodine, scavando e accumulando milioni di ciottoli per selezionare l’oro alluvionale presente nel terreno. Il museo illustra le tecniche manuali utilizzate nella ricerca del prezioso metallo, affiancando la visita con percorsi archeologici guidati tra i cumuli e lungo il torrente Elvo, dove ancora oggi si può provare l’emozione della ricerca dell’oro. Un’esperienza che unisce storia, natura e archeologia, immergendo il visitatore in un paesaggio unico dell’Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea, modellato dal lavoro umano e dalla memoria del tempo.
