Die Flößerei hat in Lechbruck eine lange und lebendige Tradition. Über Jahrhunderte war der Lech der sicherste, schnellste und billigste Verkehrsweg, um Holz, Rohstoffe und Waren in weiter entfernte Absatzgebiete am Lech und an der Donau zu transportieren. Damit fanden viele Siedler ihren Verdienst „auf dem Wasser“ oder als Händler. Das Floßgewerbe entwickelte sich zu einem bedeutenden Wirtschaftsfaktor, war somit für das ganze Dorf Lebensgrundlage. Die Dauerausstellung vermittelt einen geschichtlichen Überblick über die Flößerei auf dem Lech und das Leben im Flößerdorf Lechbruck am See.
