Eichsfelder Geschichtsmuseum im reizvollen Barockbau

Im ehemaligen Jesuitenkolleg Heiligenstadts informiert das Eichsfeldmuseum über die Geschichte, Kultur, Religiosität und Volkskunde des Eichsfeldes. In den drei Etagen des Barockgebäudes erhalten die Besucher einen Einblick in die bewegte Geschichte dieser Region in Deutschlands Mitte und ihrer Hauptstadt Heiligenstadt. Einmalig im deutschsprachigen Raum ist die „Heiligenstädter Palmsonntagsprozession“, die in das Bundesweite Verzeichnis des Immateriellen Kulturerbes der deutschen UNESCO-Kommission aufgenommen wurde. Das Museum präsentiert Figuren und Geschichte dieser Leidensprozession. Auch über das Werk des in Heiligenstadt geborenen Bildhauers Tilman Riemenschneider (1460–1531) informieren wir unsere Besucher.
