Brezje Nativity Museum

The year-round open musem presents the history of nativity scenes and the tools used for their production as well as the different types of nativity: Christmas, Passion, Pentecost and the Resurrection scenes. The museum also contains traditional Slovenian Christmas nativity scenes, which, in bygone days, were set up for Christmas in a so-called 'God's corner' of homes. Numerous nativity scenes created by Slovenians are on display, as well as those from other parts of Europe and even other continents. Through foreign lands, by the light of the star which had led the Wise Men to Bethlehem, museum visitors are guided to the new part of the museum where a film tells the story of nativities during the war and in present times. The last  part of the museum is devoted to the placement of larger individual nativity scenes. Here, visitors change from mere observers and step into the world of nativities.
