Artists' yard Arnold

Since its inauguration on June 22, 1997, the Künstlerhof Arnold in Marktstraße, a "revived" courtyard in the middle of the old city quarter, has been open to the public, where fine art, interesting handicrafts, old craft traditions and cozy gastronomy have entered into a close relationship. The Künstlerhof Arnold is the former residence and workplace of W. H. Arnold, who created numerous important models and works here as a freelance sculptor and painter since 1926. The artist's works can be seen in the residence and studio. In the outbuildings and the barn are the extensive collections of the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Allendorf. Tools of traditional crafts and agriculture are on display. A village smithy, shoemaker's and wainwright's workshops form a lively museum of local history. Changing art exhibitions take place on the upper floor of the residential house.
