Am Mädelejoch steht der alte Stein, der die Grenze zwischen Bayern und Tirol markiert.
Die Jahreszahl 1844 auf dem Stein bezieht sich auf den "Grenzberichtigungs-Vertrag zwischen Bayern und Oesterreich über die Landesgrenze zwischen dem Königreich Bayern einerseits und der gefürsteten Grafschaft Tirol und Vorarlberg andererseits" aus dem Jahre 1844.
Das Gestein an der Passhöhe ist der graue Dolomitstein des mächtigen Hauptdolomits (Trias, ca. 215. Mio. Jahre). Er baut auch die Gipfel beiderseits der Passhöhe auf.
