Scenic alpine road linking Mittersill and the Zillertal with stunning views of the mountains and Krimml Waterfalls.

Winding through an impressive alpine landscape between Salzburg and Tyrol, the Gerlos Alpine Road links Mittersill with the Zillertal. Its most scenic section stretches from Krimml up to the Pinzgauer Höhe, offering around twelve kilometres of panoramic driving.

Gentle curves and well-positioned viewpoints make the journey particularly enjoyable. Along the way, breathtaking views of the Krimml Waterfalls and the surrounding peaks open up time and again, creating a constantly changing mountain backdrop.

The route also reflects a long and eventful history. For centuries, the pass served as an important connection between valleys and gained further significance during the era of gold mining. In the 1960s, it was finally developed into the panoramic road known today.

Whether by car, motorcycle or bike, the focus here is on travelling at a relaxed pace and taking in the scenery. Numerous viewpoints invite you to pause, enjoy the landscape and experience the mountains in your own time.
