Crossing the Fenêtre d’Arpette is high and rocky hike. There are no restaurants enroute, buses or cable cars to shorten the hike. The ascent is consistently steep, and at 2665m, the pass is subject to wind and weather if the day isn’t fair. The descent is also very steep near the top, quite rocky to start, becoming more pleasant and easier as it goes on.
Fenêtre d’Arpette is not for everyone, but if you like a challenge, go for it! It’s a beautiful hike with great glacier and mountain views on the way up, and a quiet descent.
