Der Coll liegt zwischen dem Valle Baranca, Colle Baranca und Carcoforo. Vom Colle d'Egua (2.239 m) zeigt sich die Monte Rosa Ostwand bei klarem Himmel in all ihrer Pracht. Von Links ist die Punta Giordani, das Balmhorn, die Vincentpyramide, das Schwarzhorn. die Ludwigshöhe, die Parrotspitze, die Signalspitze mit der höchsten Hütte Europas, der Capanna Regina Magherita (4.560 m), die Zumsteinspitze, die Dufourspitze, mit 4.634 m der zweithöchste Gipfel und das Nordend in voller Größe zu bestaunen.Bis 1822 hießen alle Gipfel Monte Rosa. Der österreichische Topgraf Ludwig Freiherr von Weiden hat am 25. August 1822 vom Coll dÉgua die Gipfel vermessen und die Namen vergeben. Die höchste Erhebung galt als die Monte Rosa. Diese wurde später in Dufourspitze umbenannt.
Am Coll d´Egua steht auch das Biwaco und das Rifugio Boffalora liegt ca. 605 m tiefer. Vom Rifugio Boffalora und von der Alpe Baranca ist der Coll gut zu erreichen.
