Das Völkerschlachtdenkmal wurde in Erinnerung an die Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig errichtet und 1913 eingeweiht. Es ist das größte Denkmal Europas und eines der bekanntesten Wahrzeichen Leipzigs. Heute ist es eine Außenstelle des Stadtgeschichtlichen Museums Leipzig.
