Múzeum Andreja KmeťaPhoto: Aneta Štancľová
Múzeum Andreja Kmeťa plní funkciu regionálneho vlastivedného a prírodovedného výskumného centra Turca a sídli v 1. budove Slovenského národného múzea z roku 1908.
Činnosť múzea je bohatá – robí výskum dejín, prírodných pomerov Turca, pripravuje rozsiahlu vlastivednú monografiu a zbierkový fond múzea tvorí viac ako polmilióna zbierkových predmetov (zbierka zoologická, botanická a geologická). Súčasťou zbierkového fondu múzea je aj zbierka venovaná histórii a kultúre regiónu Turiec ako aj osobnostiam, ktoré v tomto regióne pôsobili.
Múzeum od roku 1967 vydáva vlastivedný zborník Kmetianum s prílohou Z minulosti Turca. Múzeum Andreja Kmeťa je od roku 1995 jedným z pracovísk Slovenského národného múzea v Martine a v súčasnosti sa tu nachádza Oddelenie prírodovedných zbierok Múzeí v Martine.
V roku 1995 bola budova múzea, ktorú navrhol architekt Milan Michal Harminc, vyhlásená za národnú kultúrnu pamiatku.
V budove sa nachádzajú pracovne, depozitáre, knižnica, stále expozície a výstavné priestory. V 30. rokoch sa v záhrade za Národným domom a vpravo od múzea konávali tanečné zábavy.
