He developed and unfolded his passion for the stage here in the Au. In the backyard of his parents' house and birthplace, where he and his comrades performed Faust or the Freischütz. With his quirky punch lines and absurd parody, he enthused a mass audience, but also intellectuals.
After his death in 1948, his artistic works only slowly found recognition again. Today, on the other hand, the city is once again very proud to have Karl Valentin, a Munich artist of international standing, as its figurehead.
