The shrine in Färdiariäd is dedicated to Saint Barbara. Saint Barbara is the patron saint of geologists, the dying, a Holy Helper invoked against lightning and fire and the artillery, and patron saint of miners, prisoners, bell-ringers and architects. The Feast of Saint Barbara is celebrated on 4th December.
