This 2.25 m high goblet-like vase, richly decorated with figurative relief and leaf ornamentation, was created by the famous sculptor Friedrich Drake (born 1805 in Bad Pyrmont - died 1882 in Berlin). Drake donated this vase to his hometown of Pyrmont in 1858 with the words that "the idea of a spring in a beautiful natural setting" expressed on it corresponded to his hometown.
Professor Friedrich Drake was an important sculptor who created well over 100 works, including the Victoria on the Victory Column in Berlin.
