The Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA), located in the heart of the historic district of Paris, is an emblematic building dedicated to the promotion of Arab culture and civilisation. Inaugurated in 1987, it is the result of collaboration between France and Arab countries. Its innovative architecture, designed by Jean Nouvel, features a façade with moucharabiehs, mobile panels that open and close according to the light outside, inspired by traditional Arab architecture.
The Institut du Monde Arabe offers a rich and varied programme of exhibitions, conferences, shows, film screenings and many other cultural events. Its aim is to encourage intercultural exchanges and raise public awareness of the richness and diversity of the Arab world.
The IMA also houses a library, study and research areas, and a restaurant with a panoramic view over the Seine and Paris. It's the place to go to discover and explore Arab culture in all its splendour.
